From the 1st January 2019, the reserve bank has made a couple of changes to help every day kiwis just like you to get into your first home !
They have increased the number of residential loans to be approved with less than 20% deposit from 15% to 20%.
To get access to this type of loan you need what is called a Welcome Home Loan which is administer by Housing New Zealand. The criteria to be eligible for the home start grant is as follows…
Contributed to Kiwisaver for a minimum of 3 years continuously.
Building or purchasing your first home.
Have a single income of less than $85K per annum or combined family income of less than $130K per annum.
10% deposit which can made up from your kiwisaver and and Home Start Grant savings or giftings.
Living in your home for at least 6 months.
Employed by your current employer for at least 12 months or in a similar role for 12 months.
